Anexis win HKLAN 2013

Anexis just became HKLAN 2013 champions by besting Copenhagen Wolves in the grand final (6-16 on de_dust2_se & 16-12 on de_nuke_se, 1-0 advantage due to coming from the upper bracket), winning ~2,400€ in the process.
The first bigger event of 2013, HKLAN, featured a ~5,300€ prize purse and it was an opportunity for many new Danish rosters to establish a new order in their local CS:GO scene.
The main favorites were the 10th best team in the world according to our ranking, Anexis, and they were challenged by the likes of fnatic, Copenhagen Wolves, EYES ON U, Xapso, logiX and HastaLaVista who all aimed to take their scalp. The 46 team tournament started with group stage on Friday evening, while the best-of-three double elimination (with best-of-one lower bracket) continued on Saturday morning.
Pimp and Anexis came to HKLAN as main favorites
Earlier today we saw the first upset as former Anexis CS 1.6 members Danny "BERRY" Krüger's and Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer's team Xapso was knocked out by Sophisticated Gaming in the lower bracket, finishing 17-24th.
At the same time fnatic looked strong in the upper bracket, defeating Copenhagen Wolves in the 1/4 final 2-0, but they then found themselves on the wrong side of a big comeback, as EYES ON U overturned a 0-1 deficit in maps and a 2-13 score in the 3rd map to win 16-14 in the upper 1/2 final, sending fnatic to the lower bracket.
In the other semi-final, Anexis fought off the surprise of the tournament, a mix team named Simplyshredded, after losing the first map 3-16 by convincingly winning the 2nd and 3rd map 16-3 and 16-2.
In the upper final, Anexis once again came back from a one map deficit, against EYES ON U, and won 2-1 (14-16, 16-10, 16-10) to advance to the grand final.
Down in the lower bracket final fnatic and Copenhagen Wolves met each other once more, and this time the all new lineup of the Wolves came out victorious 16-11 on de_nuke_se, setting up a consolidation final matchup against EYES ON U. Wolves continued their strong play, and with a 16-7 victory on de_mirage_go they joined Anexis in the grand final where they would need to win two maps opposed to Anexis' one who had a 1-0 advantage due to coming from the upper bracket.

Starting around 2:30AM local time, the grand final's first map was de_dust2_se where Copenhagen Wolves began as CTs. The underdogs made a brilliant start and took a dominant 10-2 lead, but Anexis made a slight comeback to finish the half 10-5.
As the sides changed, Wolves took the second pistol round and went up 13-5. After that, their patient attacks eventually paid off, despite of dropping the first buy round, and they clinched the first map 16-6.
That left the match and the championship hanging on the second map's result, which turned out being de_nuke_se. Wolves once more started on defense but it was Anexis who took the early lead after winning their first pistol round of the final. But apart from the following anti-ecos, Wolves only allowed their opponents to take two buy rounds, going into the second half with another 10-5 lead.
However, thanks to another pistol round, Anexis reduced the score to 10-8 and made the match even more interesting two rounds later when the result stood at 10-10. The next four rounds were exchanged and neither team was in the lead (12-12), but Anexis then found a successful formula and held their opponents away in the next four rounds to win 16-12 and secure the HKLAN title.

After being knocked down to the lower bracket quite early, in the 1/4 final, Copenhagen Wolves' one month old lineup fought through five opponents to reach the grand final where they gave a good account of themselves but ended up with 2nd place and a 1,350€ consolation prize.
Anexis didn't seem as convincing as it was expected of them, dropping a map to four of their six playoff opponets, but nevertheless they proved to be the best Danish team at the moment by taking 1st place and a cheque for ~2,400€.
